SAVE-THE-DATE PHOTOS

First off, I just want to thank God for putting Justin on my path. Thank you to Justin for being amazing and flexible throughout this photo shoot (and everything)! The experience made wedding planning a lot more fun and concrete.

I also want to thank my best friend and co-maid of honor, Marilyn. She and I had talked about this vision 2 years ago. I knew I wanted to have a ‘50s style engagement/save-the-date photo shoot way back then, and I had a pretty good idea I’d be shooting it with my now fiancé. This was our 3rd couples photo shoot with Marilyn! ☺️

Location:

The Graylyn Estate,

Winston-Salem, NC

Photographer:

Marilyn Antunez,

Chris Lynn Photography

I had visited the Graylyn Estate back in December of last year to tour it as a potential wedding venue. Although we ultimately didn't choose it, I fell in love with the scenery, especially this vintage car. It really tied the ‘50s theme together. I didn't know that the doors were unlocked until Marilyn opened them!

I love that Marilyn goes with the flow and experiments with her photography. We didn't have to reserve the location for pictures since it's open to the public. I was a little worried that they would kick us out due to an event, but fortunately we were able to take pictures in all the areas we wanted. Also, not reserving it made it feel more spontaneous. 🥰

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Dress: dresslily.com

“Short Sleeve Snow Print Flare Dress”

I relied heavily on Pinterest to help me come up with a very ‘50s look. You can check out my ”engagement shoot” board for more ideas! Dresslily.com has so many beautiful retro options. My dress was only $25!!!

If you order from this site, please keep in mind that their dresses run bigger than expected. I chose a medium, but I should’ve gotten a small. I used a pin to tie the back of my dress to make it smaller... you might be able to catch that in the unedited pictures, but it all worked out 🙌🏽

Gloves: Party City

yep, $12. Party city FTW

Shoes: INC

Jewelry: Tous pearl necklace and bracelet; Cartier watch

Hair and makeup: by my talented friend, Marilyn

The rest of the pictures are unedited...

I know this is cheesy, but I love how our feet are in sync in the jumping pictures 😂

Outfit change!

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Dress: dresslily.com

This dress was also just $25! I paired it with a patent, red belt to match my heels. Another reason I wore the belt, is because this dress also ran too big on me.

Baby blue is my favorite color, so I knew one of my looks had to include it.

Shoes: lulus.com

The red belt and heels also made my lips pop more.

His real smile ❤️

found this pose idea on Pinterest 😉

I was so happy everything ran smoothly that day! Marilyn literally took over a thousand pictures of us, but we narrowed it down to the first few (the edited ones that I selected) for the actual save-the-date cards. I have one more look from this photo shoot, but I’ll do a separate post because it wasn’t ‘50s style. Can’t wait to share it and many more details throughout the planning process...

We’re so excited to announce that we’ll be getting married in November!

XO,

Raquel
