From Rhodes to Corfu, this post covers five of the six Greek islands I visited during the cruise. Santorini is not included since I already dedicated a post to it alone. Keep in mind, I didn't pay for any tours while on the islands (balling on a budget). It was pretty easy finding popular tourist spots for the most part, but I would recommend doing some research in case you want to go to particular beaches. I've ranked the islands from first to last...
1. ARGOSTOLI, CEPHALONIA
What I wore:
Romper: Lulu's
This is probably my favorite romper (even though I wasn't wearing it properly that day).
Bikini: Fashion Nova
I really like the vintage feel of this bikini. Who doesn’t love a highwaisted bikini bottom?
Handbag: Rebecca Minkoff
Hat: Aria (from a boutique in Santorini)
Recommendation: If possible, visit Myrtos beach. I didn't have enough time to go (plus, a taxi ride there was about 80 euros). We opted for Makris Giatos beach. Argostoli was my favorite island because we were actually able to kick back at the beach. Makris Giatos was packed, but it had restaurants close by and good music playing. The waiters came to take our orders right from our umbrella. And, I mean, look at the clear water! We also walked through the town, which had the usual boutiques, churches, and restaurants.
2. RHODES
This island has beautiful historic sites, including a castle. My favorite part was walking through the Medieval Old Town, which is a World Heritage Site. It also seems to have some Middle Eastern influence since the island is off the coast of Turkey.
What I wore:
Striped shirt & Shorts: Forever 21
Handbag: Rebecca Minkoff
Sandals: Tory Burch
3. Corfu
Corfu was actually the last Greek island we visited. We chose to go to the beach one last time. It was a little difficult finding a taxi that day and the beaches were at least 20 minutes away. We picked a beach, found a restaurant to chill at beachside, and swam the rest of the afternoon.
What I wore:
Bikini: Jessica Simpson.
I knew I had to take a blue bikini to Greece and I found this one on sale. Both the top and bottom were less than $30 total at Dillard’s.
4. IRAKLION, CRETE
Crete is one of the most popular Greek islands. It’s only rated as number four because we didn’t have the energy to go to most of the tourist locations. The port was located by the castle pictured below. Then, we boarded a hop on/hop off tour bus. Those tour buses are the way to go when you want to see the city tour spots for a good price. We took the time to buy souvenirs at the shoppes and called it a day. The biggest win of the day: I FINALLY found a hair straightener...for only €30!
What I wore:
Dress: Forever 21
Sandals: TJ Maxx
(same handbag mentioned above)
5. Nafplion
Nafplion is ranked number five because we didn't actually tour the island. This stop was on day five of the cruise, and we were still tired from Santorini. We went up to the deck of the cruise ship and saw this beautiful view. There's a castle on a tiny island pictured below.
Overall, every island was beautiful in its own way. The key is to prioritize which spots to see beforehand to save your energy. Out of the five islands, I would rate Rhodes as the most unique. However, Argostoli won my heart over with its natural beauty and sea turtles.
Rhodes - Iraklion (Crete) - Nafplion - Argostoli (Cephalonia) - Corfu
