NYC IN A NEW YORK MINUTE

Hi, guys! I'm so happy I get to share a new travel blogpost with you all! I went to NYC with my little friend Gaby and her 8th grade class, as Gaby’s chaperone. From Times Square to Broadway, we pretty much visited all the main tourist attractions NYC has to offer. This wasn't my first trip to NYC, but I did cross off a lot of firsts like going to the Statue of Liberty, the top of the Empire State Building, and Broadway. The itinerary was tight, but somehow we accomplished everything on the list!

TIMES SQUARE

Outfit details:

Coat: Shein

I've had this coat for a couple of years and I think it's a staple for any wardrobe! This tan/beige color will make your outfit look a little more sophisticated and chic. Unfortunately, it's thin and it was pretty chilly in NYC when we went, so take that into account. It would be perfect for normal Spring weather though!

Dress shirt: Forever 21

I wanted to wear mostly neutral colors for one of my NYC outfits. Black is always a good idea, so I wore one of my favorite dress/shirts. This one was less than $20 at Forever 21.

Leggings: Walmart

I love these pleather leggings (obviously). I wear them A LOT all year round. I got them a long time ago at Walmart, but I recently saw a nice pair on vicicollection.com. Their quality of clothes should be a lot better, and their leggings are even made of spanx material. I'm probably going to buy some from their website soon because I need a new pair... stay tuned.

Shoes: Burberry

These shoes were as comfortable as they could be for all the walking we did. I'm not a big sneaker person, but I love these. They have snakeskin print design on the sides, too!

Handbag: Michael Kors

This bag is so comfortable. It's spacious and it can be a crossbody, which is how I wore it for the most part. 10/10 recommend.

THE STATUE OF LIBERTY

Seeing the Statue of Liberty in person was such a blessing. The Statue has welcomed immigrants to this country from all over the world. I couldn't help but think of my parents since NYC was their first stop when they moved to the US.

I had such a good time seeing Gaby have a good time on her field trip!

THE OCULUS AT THE WORLD TRADE CENTER

The Oculus is a new addition to the city. It stands out from the rest of the buildings with its modern design. The picture below was snapped really quickly while we were on our way to the subway station.

THE FREEDOM TOWER & 9/11 MEMORIAL MUSEUM

Visiting the 9/11 museum was very emotional (needless to say). It's so important to keep this part of our country's history alive and honor these fallen heroes.

This wall was my favorite part of the museum

KNICKS GAME @ MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

This was also my first time at MSG and my second time at an NBA game. We arrived pretty early since we were a big group. The first thing we did once we knew where our seats were, was buy some concession food.

I simply couldn't complain

THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING

The Empire State Building's view was incredible! We arrived at around 9 am and it was kind of cloudy that morning. Thankfully, the sun started coming out and gave the sky a cool, orange glow. I was extra excited to be there since I'm a huge Gossip Girl fan. This is where Chuck waited for Blair with pink peonies in hand... IYKYK!

Shout out to the stranger who kindly took this pic!

Cool view of the Flatiron Building...

FEATURED RESTAURANT: JOE'S PIZZA

One of my fellow chaperones chose this pizza spot. It's "the best of New York" as you can see on the sign below! The walls are covered with pictures of celebs who have visited Joe's Pizza. Also, Spider-Man worked here in the original movie!

Put me on the wall!

I had 2 pepperoni pizzas :)

SHOPPING AT HERALD SQUARE & FIFTH AVENUE

We also did a little shopping while we were there. I bought a couple of things at Zara that I can't wait to share with you guys in a future blog post!

CENTRAL PARK

We spent about half an hour in this part of Central Park. Central Park is ginormous and we didn't have a lot of time left to explore it. I definitely want to come back and go to Bethesda Terrace, as well as other spots that were featured on GG.

Outfit details:

Jacket: American Eagle

I packed this jacket just in case I needed more layers and it came in handy

(pictured above when I was at Joe's Pizza).

Sweater: Vici Collection

This was my first purchase from Vici Collection and I'm obsessed. I added a little belt to it because it was loose. I would have definitely worn it without the belt if I hadn't been wearing leggings underneath. This sweater is long enough to be a mini dress. You could also dress it up with heels for a date night! But, because this was a field trip, I wore it this way.

Leggings: Lulu Lemon

I love wearing leggings with just about anything. This outfit was no exception.

Shoes: Burberry (same as day 1)

I wore some booties in the morning when I went to the Empire State Building, but I ended up changing back into these sneakers since we had a lot of walking to do.

Handbag: Michael Kors (same as day 1)

Sunglasses: Dior

Love these shades because they're pink and they made my sweater pop a little extra.

Spring is a beautiful time to visit the City! I'd love to visit in the Fall while the leaves are changing colors!

LADURÉE @ THE PARK PLAZA HOTEL

The Park Plaza is just iconic. It has been featured in so many movies, including Home Alone 2, Bride Wars, and The Great Gatsby. We went to the Plaza Food Hall and had dinner before the Broadway show. I had to stop by Ladurée to buy some macarons. Ladurée is THE macaron specialist. If you ever go to Paris, stop by their restaurant!

I also bought a stawberry banana smoothie at Vive la Crepe!

BROADWAY

I was over the moon when I found out we were going to see a Broadway show! King Kong was a great show to watch and there was a lot more action than I thought possible for a live show.

In the picture below, you can kind of tell that there are people dressed in black. These actors moved King Kong all over the stage. The lights and other effects made it seem so realistic in person.

One final view of Times Square in the background

Overall, the trip was amazing. I had a great time with Gaby, her classmates, and my fellow chaperones. Although we did a lot, there are so many places I still want to visit in the city. So, I can't wait to go back!

XO,

Raquel
