DREAMING OF VENICE

Updated: Feb 7, 2019

I was very excited to explore Venice. I had heard mixed reviews from friends, so there was a part of me that was hoping for the best. Because Venice was the last stop on the cruise, my time there wasn't as limited. I had four days to take it all in. Venice reminded me of Rome, but it had an added factor: canals! Needless to say, I fell in love with Venice. Plus, it is called the sinking city... It's definitely worth visiting at least once while it's still there.

Day 1

What I wore:

Matching top & skirt set: Choies

I'm glad I saved this outfit for Venice because a lot of the buildings in Venice were pink or rose-colored. I'm obsessed with matching sets, especially this one since it was cutesy and comfortable.

This bridge is very 'Romeo and Juliet'

Beauty everywhere

FAVORITE SPOTS:

1. The Grand Canal

You can't miss it. Big tip: choose a restaurant or spot by the Grand Canal and watch the sunset!

The Grand Canal

2. St. Mark's Basilica and St. Mark's Square

St. Mark's Basilica is Venice's best-known church

3. Santa Maria della Salute church

My personal favorite

4. Ponte di Rialto (Rialto Bridge)

The most popular bridge

5. Peggy Guggenheim Collection

The place to go for art lovers

Restaurants:

1. Ristorante Wildner (at Pensione Wildner)

This restaurant is right next to the Grand Canal. It has a spectacular view, especially for sunsets. I had a pizza margherita here (pictured below). Everything about this restaurant was beautiful!

2. Hard Rock Cafe

My family likes to collect Hard Rock pins from around the world, so we had to go to the one in Venice. A great perk of eating here is the free refills! European countries typically don't do free refills, so it was nice to go eat somewhere and feel at home. And, in typical fashion, I ordered the nachos, with chicken.

Day 2

What I wore:

Crop top: Forever 21

Skirt: Lulu's

This skirt always gets compliments! I paired it with a crop top to give it a more modern feel.

Handbag: Gucci

Shoes: Tory Burch

I didn't take as many pictures on day 2. Most of the day was spent window shopping.

Day 3

Santa Maria della Salute church and the Grand Canal

What I wore:

Dress: Choies

I'm so glad I saved this dress for last. I debated not wearing it because I felt like it was too big/long (one of the down sides to buying clothes online). Regardless, I think it worked out. I also pinned the top part because I felt like it was too low cut for me. I feel like this dress is very regal-looking and would look great on any body type.

Choker necklace: Forever 21

This look wouldn't have been complete without this necklace (or a similar, noticeable necklace).

This balcony looks straight out of a movie

When in Venice, ride a gondola

A beautiful boutique hotel I walked by and had to capture

Ponti di Rialto (Rialto bridge) was the first and last major tourist site I visited. I ended the trip to Venice right where I started it. I loved Venice, and would definitely go back. There's so much to see, so I'm glad we were there for over three days. I may write a separate blog post about day four's outfit, so stay tuned for more!
